Disney+ Renews ‘Percy Jackson’ for Third Season Before Season Two Premiere

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Disney+ announced on March 14 that the popular series Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been renewed for a third season, nearly a year before the anticipated premiere of its second season this December.
The third season will continue the narratives from Rick Riordan‘s bestselling novels, specifically focusing on the events surrounding The Titan’s Curse, the third book in the series. The Season 2 premiere date has yet to be precisely announced.
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, expressed excitement about the renewal. “From the moment Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages,” Davis stated. “We’re thrilled to announce that Percy’s journey will continue with a third season.”
Riordan also shared his enthusiasm: “We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time.”
The second season casts Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer, with production having recently completed in Vancouver. The show’s fanbase is notably engaged, having responded positively to its first season, which debuted in December 2023.
According to Nielsen streaming data, the initial season was one of the top five most-watched original series on streaming platforms during its launch window, further solidifying its popularity. The series was also recognized with 16 nominations at the upcoming Children and Family Emmy Awards.
In terms of production, the series has shown a strong timeline from conception to release. Season 1 premiered just over a year after its production wrapped, and the same pattern is expected for Season 3. The new season’s early renewal is an indicator of Disney’s confidence in the show’s success moving forward.
Fans of Percy Jackson can catch up with the first season, currently available for streaming on Disney+.
