Diverse Communities Celebrate Norouz In Canada

Today, communities in Canada and around the world celebrate Norouz, the Persian New Year. It marks the arrival of spring and the rejuvenation of nature.

Norouz, meaning ‘new day’ in Farsi, is a time for families and friends to gather around the Haft-sin table, engage in poetry readings, and share festive meals.

To the Iranian, Afghan, Kurdish, Zoroastrian, Baha’i, Ismaili, Central Asian, and various other communities observing Norouz: thank you for your ongoing contributions to our country.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his wishes for a year filled with joy, health, and prosperity for those celebrating Norouz in Canada.

As part of the celebrations, the Minister of Diversity, Inclusion and Persons with Disabilities, Laurent de Casanove, shared a message of goodwill and prosperity for all those marking Norouz.

The Canadian Heritage Ministry has also highlighted the significance of Norouz in recognizing the rich cultural diversity within Canada.
