DNA Test Reveals Shocking Truth About Rory Feek’s ‘Daughter’

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Hopie Feek, who has long believed that country singer Rory Feek was her father, recently shared a stunning revelation: a DNA test confirmed he is not her biological dad. In an emotional Instagram post, Feek opened up about her discovery, stating she took a 23andMe test after feeling a sense of difference throughout her life.

“I got the results I never knew I needed,” Feek wrote. The test results identified her biological father only as ‘B.C.’ and sparked a new chapter in her life. “Over the last six months, he and I have gotten really close and gotten to know each other. It’s so strange because we’re so much alike,” she explained.

At 37, Hopie detailed the process of finding her biological father, sharing that she initially felt uncertain about how to locate him. “I literally stalked him online,” Feek admitted. Within 24 hours of reaching out through Facebook, he was at her doorstep, ready to embrace her. “I’ve never experienced unconditional love like that before,” she said.

Hopie and her sister Heidi are daughters of Tamara Gillmor, who was married to Rory Feek from 1985 until their divorce in 1992. Hopie was born in 1988. Following the divorce, Rory remarried in 2002, forming the celebrated duo Joey + Rory with his wife, Joey Feek. The couple achieved significant success, including Grammy awards and numerous albums, before Joey’s death from cancer in 2016.

Despite her long-standing relationship with Rory as her father, Hopie recently reconnected with her mother, Tamara. “There’s so much more love to my story than I ever thought there was,” she shared. “I reconnected with my mom this past year, and she’s freaking awesome. Learning how much she loves me and how much she wanted to be a part of my life but never really could has been transformative for me.”

After Hopie revealed the DNA test results, Rory responded with his own heartfelt post, admitting he had always suspected the possibility but didn’t have conclusive proof until now. He reflected on their shared history and the bond that remained despite the revelation, assuring Hopie, “I love you as my daughter and I always will.”

Rory also expressed compassion for Tamara, acknowledging the burden she carried for revealing the truth after so many years. In a previous autobiography, he opened up about his troubled marriage and the mistakes he made, taking responsibility for the relationship’s failure.
