Cole Bennett Chief Keef Documentary

Music video director Cole Bennett is set to make his feature film directorial debut with a documentary centered around the life and career of Chicago rapper Chief Keef. Known for his work with Lyrical Lemonade, Bennett has built a reputation over the past decade by directing numerous music videos for prominent artists. Now, he is expanding his portfolio by taking on this ambitious project.

According to an exclusive report by Variety, the documentary will explore Chief Keef’s rise in the music industry, his career trajectory, and his impact on Chicago’s music scene. The film will be directed by Bennett and produced by Kenya Barris’s Khalabo Ink Society, with Jeremy Allen serving as a producer. Lyrical Lemonade’s Jake Millan and Krista Worby will act as executive producers alongside Khalabo Ink Society’s Emile Geneve and Idris Dykes.

Chief Keef, a Chicago native, is known for his significant influence on the rap scene, particularly in his hometown. The documentary aims to chronicle Keef’s beginnings, his hiatus, and his recent return to the city, examining how Chicago’s environment shaped his artistic journey.

Bennett expressed his enthusiasm for the project on Instagram, posting, “my first film, the chief keef documentary.” However, further details such as an official title or release date for the film have not yet been announced, leaving fans eager for more information.

Cole Bennett is recognized for his work with artists like Vic Mensa, King Louie, Eminem, and Juice Wrld. Earlier this year, he released his debut album “All Is Yellow” in collaboration with Def Jam and Lyrical Lemonade.

Khalabo Ink Society, under the leadership of Kenya Barris, has been involved in producing successful TV shows such as “Black-ish” and its spinoffs. Barris has also worked on films including “Girls Trip” and the “Coming 2 America” sequel.

The documentary project highlights the blending of music and film industries, as Bennett transitions from being a music video director to a filmmaker. This venture marks another step in Chief Keef’s storied career, and many in the industry and his fan base are keenly watching for its debut.
