Documentary Offers Insight into Worship Leaders Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham
Worship leaders Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham are bringing their fans a new way to experience the transformative power of worship with a forthcoming documentary, set to hit theaters nationwide this fall. The Fathom Events film captures moments from their Summer Worship Nights Tour and follows the lives, struggles, and spiritual awakenings that have shaped two of Christian music’s most celebrated artists.
Directed by Noah Taher and produced by Ken Carpenter, known for “The Shift,” the documentary aims to provide viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at what fuels the heart and mission of Brandon Lake, who serves as a worship pastor at Seacoast Church in Charleston, South Carolina, and Phil Wickham, a Grammy-nominated artist. “My hope for this project is that it would not only show what it takes to go on tour but why the music and touring mean so much to us,” said Lake, who expressed his enthusiasm about the documentary’s release.
Phil Wickham noted that sharing his story in a cinematic format was an unexpected blessing. “Never in my life did I think I would be a part of telling a piece of my story in theaters,” Wickham said. “I hope the stories encountered through this movie show everyone watching how much they are loved by the ONE.”
The documentary, titled “For the One,” is set to be available in theaters from October 27-29. It aims to show the authenticity behind the worship music and ministry that resonates deeply with today’s young generation. “God’s Word is authentic, it’s relevant, it’s complete truth,” Lake told The Christian Post, as he emphasized the importance of conveying this message in an authentic manner.
Both Lake and Wickham have shared how on their tour, thousands have come forward to begin a new relationship with Jesus, illustrating the tour’s widespread impact. Wickham shared moments from the tour, recalling how he and Lake would remind themselves of the significance of their mission. “We run on stage and have just a praise party and then tell people about Jesus,” Wickham shared.
Despite their success, both artists remain grounded in the simple goal of their ministry: to bring people into the presence of God. Wickham, who won four Dove Awards this year, mentioned, “We just want to see people encounter the presence of God, lift up the name of Jesus, see lives change.”
