Dolly Parton Postpones Vegas Residency Due to Health Challenges

Nashville, Tenn. — Dolly Parton announced on September 28 that she is postponing her December Las Vegas residency due to unspecified health challenges. The 79-year-old country music legend has raised concerns among her fans worldwide, especially after her sister urged them to pray for her well-being.
Parton recently withdrew from a Dollywood event after experiencing complications from a kidney stone. “It’s causing a lot of problems,” she stated during an interview. Her sister, Freida Parton, expressed her fears for Dolly in a Facebook post, saying she was up all night praying for her sister. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately… I believe in the power of prayer,” Freida wrote on October 7.
Dolly Parton explained her postponement, stating that her doctors advised her to undergo several procedures. “As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 check-up,” she noted. She emphasized that she wants to deliver the best performance for her fans and feels it’s necessary to focus on her health first.
Her long-awaited Las Vegas residency, now moved to September 2026, would have marked her first extended stint in the city in over 30 years. The Grammy winner reflected on her bond with her audience, saying, “You see good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.” Parton remains optimistic, assuring fans, “Don’t worry about me quitting the business… I believe I am being told to slow down for now, preparing for more big adventures with all of you.”
This health news comes in light of a challenging year for Parton, following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, in March. Despite her current health issues, reports indicate that she continues to work from home as she recovers.
Parton is well-known for her hits, including “I Will Always Love You” and “Jolene,” and her return to the Las Vegas stage has been highly anticipated.
