Donatella Versace Denounces New Hotel, Restaurant in Miami

Miami Beach, Florida – Famed designer Donatella Versace has spoken out against a new hotel and restaurant bearing her name. The Donatella Boutique Hotel & Restaurant, located near her family’s former home in Miami, is not associated with her or her family, she clarified.
“Let me be clear. The hotel and restaurant named Donatella…will never have anything to do with me or my family. To try to capitalize on our tragedy and my name for profit is disgraceful,” Versace stated on her Instagram account.
The new establishment was opened by the Nakash and Vida & Estilo Hospitality groups. They previously transformed her late brother Gianni Versace‘s mansion into the Villa Casa Casuarina, which features an eatery called Gianni’s.
Despite sharing her name, Donatella emphasized she has no involvement in the 170-seat restaurant or six-room hotel. Attempts to reach representatives from the hospitality group for comment were unsuccessful.
The Nakash family, known for the Jordache brand, acquired the former Versace mansion in 2013 for $41.5 million. Gianni Versace originally bought the property in 1992 but was tragically shot and killed on its steps in 1997. The mansion changed hands in 2000, later serving as a private club and boutique hotel.
In March, Page Six reported that Donatella had allegedly been removed from her family brand when Capri Holdings, which owns Michael Kors and Jimmy Choo, announced her departure as chief creative officer after nearly 30 years.
