Doug McDermott, a 10-year veteran of the National Basketball Association, is set to begin his 11th season in the league with the Sacramento Kings. McDermott, who was signed by the Kings last week, brings a wealth of experience and a notable shooting prowess to his new team. He has averaged in double-figures in four of the past five seasons and has accumulated 5,851 career NBA points in 655 games.

McDermott’s career is marked by several accolades, including being the most decorated men’s basketball player in Creighton University history. He played at Creighton from 2010-14, ranking seventh in NCAA history with 3,150 career points and sweeping 14 National Player of the Year awards as a senior. McDermott was a three-time conference player of the year and became the first male in 30 years to be named a First Team All-American three straight seasons by the Associated Press.

Before joining the Sacramento Kings, McDermott played for several teams including the Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers, and San Antonio Spurs. He is known for his exceptional three-point shooting, ranking 24th in NBA history with a 41.0 percent marksmanship from three-point territory and tied for 176th with 940 three-pointers made.

McDermott will wear the number 7 jersey for the Kings, continuing a tradition of Creighton alumni making significant contributions in the NBA. This season, he will be joined by fellow Creighton alums Trey Alexander with the Denver Nuggets and Baylor Scheierman with the Boston Celtics, both of whom are making their professional debuts).
