Drag: The Musical Cast Performance Live Album

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — The Off-Broadway sensation ‘Drag: The Musical’ is set to release a live cast album on April 25 via PEG Records/Warner, capturing the energy of its performances during its successful run at New World Stages. The album features the current cast, led by drag performer Alaska Thunderfuck, alongside a roster of talented co-stars.

Tomas Costanza, a show co-creator and producer, collaborates with legendary performer Liza Minnelli, who expresses excitement about the project. “From the moment I got involved with ‘Drag: The Musical,’ I knew it was something special—bold, brave, bursting with heart and music that is all about love,” Minnelli said in a statement. “The songs here will make you laugh and cry.”

The album, which includes new songs such as “One of the Boys” and “The Showdown,” aims to replicate the raw excitement of being in the theater. “No overdubs, no polish—just the raw excitement of the show, captured live,” Costanza noted. “It’s delivered straight to your phone like you’re right there in the front row.”

‘Drag: The Musical’ currently runs through April 27, 2025, and has garnered attention for its compelling narrative about two rival drag bars navigating financial hardships. The show, written by Alaska, Costanza, and Ashley Gordon, emphasizes themes of acceptance and community.

Alaska expressed her own eagerness about the album: “I’m so excited about this live album. The vocals kick ass, and the crowd couldn’t be more amazing. It’s just like being in the audience,” she said.

The production boasts an ensemble cast that includes Nick Adams, Adam Pascal, Jan Sport, Jujubee, and many others. The design aspects of the show are overseen by talented professionals, with Marco Marco providing costume designs and Aurora Sexton responsible for makeup design.

‘Drag: The Musical’ debuted in October 2024 and has since impressed audiences with its mix of humor, drama, and vibrant performances. It has also been honored with a special recognition award from the GLAAD Media Awards and received six nominations for the prestigious Lucille Lortel Awards.

The live album was engineered by two-time Tony nominee Drew Levy and will be available for pre-order ahead of its official release. This project is a culmination of a theatrical journey marked by critical acclaim and vibrant performances that celebrate the art of drag.
