Dragon Ball Daima Director Reveals Challenges in New Interview

Tokyo, Japan – A recent interview included in the Japanese Blu-ray booklet of Dragon Ball Daima has shed light on the challenges faced during the anime’s production. Series director Aya Komako discussed the design philosophy regarding Panzy, a character introduced in Episode 4 and more prominently featured in Episode 5.
Komako explained that the creative team worked to strike a balance in Panzy’s design, stating, “We agonized over the balance of not giving too girly an impression, while still wanting her to be cute.” Panzy, the daughter of King Kadan and princess of the Third Demon Realm, quickly becomes an essential ally in the show’s storyline.
The interview also highlighted the production struggles behind the climactic battle between Goku and King Gomah, the main antagonist whose strength comes from his Evil Third Eye. This battle culminates in Goku achieving his Super Saiyan 4 transformation as he regains his adult form in Episode 20.
While discussing this pivotal moment, Komako reflected on the team’s efforts to create a thrilling climactic showdown, emphasizing how integral the characters’ development is to the narrative’s impact. Fans can expect detailed insights when they view the bonus material in the Blu-ray release.
Moreover, the franchise is buzzing with excitement as the upcoming Dragon Ball Store is set to open in Tokyo Station, offering exclusive merchandise for enthusiasts. This new location represents a significant milestone as it will feature immersive decorations inspired by the beloved series.
