EDMONTON, Alberta — Leon Draisaitl is on the verge of extending his impressive point streak as the Edmonton Oilers prepare to visit the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night. The Oilers, currently sitting at a record of 37-22-4, will aim to build on a recent resurgence after overcoming a five-game losing streak.

Draisaitl, who is vying for both the Hart Trophy and the Rocket Richard Trophy, has amassed an impressive 27 points, including 12 goals and 15 assists, over the last 14 games, leading the NHL with 46 goals this season. His current point streak stands at 14 games, and he hopes to extend it to 15 when the team takes the ice at 7 p.m. ET.

“It’s all about keeping the momentum going for the team,” said Draisaitl. “We have worked hard to turn things around, and every game is crucial at this point in the season.”

Meanwhile, the Sabres enter the matchup struggling, having lost their last five games, including a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Florida Panthers. Buffalo holds a record of 24-32-6 and hopes to rebound as they continue their pursuit of a playoff spot.

In an effort to bolster their chances, the Sabres have secured forward Josh Norris, who made his debut on Saturday night. Norris was traded from the Ottawa Senators and logged over 20 minutes of ice time in his first outing.

“I’m excited to get out there and contribute however I can,” said Norris following the trade. “It’s a tough time right now, but we’re looking to turn it around.”

In another critical matchup Monday, the Ottawa Senators, currently holding the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with 69 points, will host the Detroit Red Wings at Canadian Tire Centre. After defeating the New York Rangers in an emotional overtime victory, the Sens are on a roll, with captain Brady Tkachuk aiming to continue his own point streak.

“I just try to keep my head down and go to work,” Tkachuk stated. “This team’s goal is to make the playoffs, and we’re fighting hard to get there.”

As for the Senators’ forward Tim Stutzle, he can become just the second player in the team’s history to register a 15-game point streak, adding further excitement to the high-stakes matchup.
