Drake Serena Williams Relationship

LOS ANGELES, CA — Rapper Drake ignited new conversations online after he liked an Instagram comment that aimed at his ex-girlfriend, tennis superstar Serena Williams. The interaction occurred on Monday, November 17, when Drake shared a tennis-themed photo with rapper Sexyy Red.

Accompanying the playful post, Drake wrote, “I said tennis lesson she said where’s the bracelet or the necklace.” Underneath this caption, a user commented, “Serena Williams upgrade” along with two fire emojis, which Drake publicly liked.

This act sparked a flurry of remarks from fans, with many accusing him of being “messy” for engaging in drama connected to Williams, whom he dated intermittently between 2011 and 2015. One user commented on his behavior, saying, “Why is he like this?”

The context of Drake’s social media behavior comes shortly after Williams’ return to the spotlight during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show earlier this year. During the performance, she danced while Lamar performed his track “Not Like Us,” which some interpreted as targeting Drake. Williams later clarified that her appearance was not intended to mock her ex and was sad that people thought otherwise.

Williams stated in an April interview with Time, “I respect how they could. Obviously I can see how someone would think that, but absolutely not. I have never had negative feelings towards him. We’ve known him for so many years.”

Despite their past, the dynamic between Drake and Williams adds complexity, especially since Drake referenced Williams in several of his songs, including the track “Worst Behavior,” where he claimed to be able to beat her at tennis.

The tennis icon, who is 44, has moved on from her connection with Drake, marrying Alexis Ohanian in 2017. Drake, now 39, remains linked to other collaborations but has not publicly spoken about the implications of his recent like directed at Williams.

As the drama unfolds, both artists continue to have their legacies intertwined in the public eye, proving that past relationships can spark new discussions with just a click of a button.
