Drew Brees Calls Patriots a Top Five NFL Team After Hot Start
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The New England Patriots are gaining national attention for their strong performance this season, with former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees placing them among the top five teams in the NFL. Brees shared his thoughts on the Patriots during an episode of ESPN‘s “First Take” on Tuesday morning.
Brees ranked the Patriots fifth in the league, praising the team’s play and their young quarterback, Drake Maye. “I love the way Drake Maye is playing,” Brees said. “Mike Vrabel has these guys going. These guys are a big-play offense. You turn on the tape, they are under center as much as anybody in the league right now. Run the football, play action, he’s launching it down the field. I love watching these guys play.”
The Patriots have indeed been a surprise this season. Vrabel is in his first year as head coach, while Maye is just in his second season. Their standout performance came in Week 5 when they defeated the previously undefeated Buffalo Bills, propelling them from a projected eight-win season to serious playoff contention.
Brees further highlighted the Patriots’ position in the AFC, placing them as the second-best team in the conference, trailing only the Indianapolis Colts. As the team prepares for their upcoming game against the struggling Tennessee Titans, New England looks to secure its fourth consecutive victory.
