“Dune: Part Two” Leads Online Film Critics Society Nominations

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Denis Villeneuve‘s “Dune: Part Two” dominated the 2025 Online Film Critics Society (OFCS) nominations, securing nine nods, including Best Picture, Best Directing, and Best Adapted Screenplay. The winners will be announced on January 27, 2025.

The OFCS, founded in 1997 and comprising nearly 300 voting members worldwide, revealed its full list of nominees on January 17. Following “Dune: Part Two,” Brady Corbet‘s “The Brutalist” earned eight nominations, while Edward Berger‘s “Conclave” and Coralie Fargeat‘s “The Substance” each received seven. Other notable contenders include “Anora,” “Nickel Boys,” and “Wicked,” all tied with six nominations.

In the Best Picture category, “Dune: Part Two” competes against films like “The Brutalist,” “Conclave,” and “The Substance.” The Best Directing race features Villeneuve alongside Sean Baker (“Anora”), Brady Corbet (“The Brutalist”), Coralie Fargeat (“The Substance”), and RaMell Ross (“Nickel Boys”).

Acting categories saw standout performances recognized, with Timothée Chalamet (“A Complete Unknown”) and Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”) leading the Best Actor and Best Actress nominations, respectively. Supporting roles by Edward Norton (“A Complete Unknown”) and Ariana Grande-Butera (“Wicked”) also garnered attention.

The OFCS also highlighted achievements in technical categories, with “Dune: Part Two” earning nods for Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Visual Effects. Meanwhile, “The Brutalist” and “Conclave” received multiple nominations in categories like Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

Animated features and international films were not overlooked, with “Inside Out 2” and “Flow” competing for Best Animated Feature, and “Emilia Pérez” and “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” vying for Best Film Not in the English Language.

The OFCS awards ceremony will cap off a competitive awards season, with “Dune: Part Two” emerging as a frontrunner. The film’s sweeping nominations reflect its critical acclaim and technical prowess, setting the stage for a potential Oscar sweep.
