Dustin Hoffman In Our Town Broadway Revival

Dustin Hoffman, the renowned American actor and filmmaker, is set to return to the Broadway stage in a revival of Thornton Wilder‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, *Our Town*. Hoffman will take on the role of the Stage Manager in this production, which is being staged by mega-producer Scott Rudin and directed by Bartlett Sher. Sher recently directed the Rudin-produced *To Kill a Mockingbird*.

This marks Hoffman’s return to Broadway after his last appearance in the 1989 revival of *The Merchant of Venice*, where he played Shylock and earned a Tony nomination. Notably, this performance followed his Oscar win for his role in *Rain Man*.

The production of *Our Town*, which follows the lives of the inhabitants of a small New England town as they grow up, get married, and discover the beauty of life, is one of several new productions announced since the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. However, specific timelines and additional casting details have not been announced due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic on Broadway.

The play was most recently revived on Broadway in 2002, with Paul Newman as the Stage Manager. This new revival is part of a series of productions aiming to revitalize Broadway, including other notable revivals such as *The Music Man* starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster.
