LOS ANGELES, CA — The wait is over for fans of the Dutton family saga as the second season of “1923” is set to premiere on February 23, 2025. The series continues to delve into the lives of Jacob and Cara Dutton, portrayed by Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, respectively, as they navigate tumultuous territory in Montana’s early 20th century.

Following the events of Season 1, the Duttons are faced with new challenges amid harsh winter conditions and adversaries intent on claiming their land. The first season, which aired on Paramount Network before moving exclusively to Paramount+, concluded with critical storylines left unresolved, notably Spencer Dutton’s perilous journey home.

The upcoming season promises to elevate the stakes for the Dutton family as they confront Donald Whitfield, a land baron played by Timothy Dalton, who threatens their livelihood. “The trailer hints at high-stakes confrontations and the reality that the Dutton legacy is at risk of being extinguished,” explained Kelly O'Sullivan, Senior Editor for The Pioneer Woman.

Early viewers may recall that to catch up on prior episodes, a Paramount+ subscription is required. Options range from Paramount+ Essential at $7.99 per month to Paramount+ with Showtime, which runs $12.99 monthly. Both subscriptions offer access to the first season’s eight episodes, now streaming.

In Season 2, fans can expect to see returning cast members alongside newcomers like Jennifer Carpenter, who portrays a U.S. Deputy Marshal named Mamie Fossett. This season will showcase the harsh realities of the Montana highlands, where the Dutton family’s plot of land becomes the focal point of intense political maneuvering, introducing further conflict as outsiders encroach on their territory.

Critical plot points from Season 1, such as Jacob and Cara’s struggle against Whitfield’s leverage over their financial stability and Spencer’s struggle against the shadow of his past, will also move forward. “This season will be pivotal. The writers have crafted a narrative that’s rich in tension and unexpected twists,” O’Sullivan noted.

Moreover, several plotlines remain unresolved from Season 1. Spencer and Alexandra, played by Julia Schlaepfer, are still separated, as Spencer returns from a harrowing journey, facing the consequences of a dangerous duel with Alexandra’s ex-fiancé.

As the release date approaches, anticipation grows for how these intricate storylines will unfold. With eight episodes scheduled to air weekly, audiences will once again be immersed in the struggles of the Dutton legacy.
