Marrakesh, MoroccoDylan Mulvaney, known for her viral TikTok series, is embracing her role as a fashion influencer while celebrating her identity.

Mulvaney, who gained fame from her “100 Days of Girlhood” series, recently attended an event hosted by Jean Paul Gaultier in Marrakesh. Clad in a flowing black dress and sipping an espresso martini, she reflected on her journey from online celebrity to a vital voice in the national conversation surrounding gender identity.

“I talk about a lot of dark things, but I try to do it in a funny way,” Mulvaney said. She shared her experiences in her New York Times bestseller, “Paper Doll,” describing the challenges she has faced since transitioning. “In the attention economy, visibility is currency, but it has come at a cost,” she noted, facing backlash from critics and paparazzi.

In her memoir, Mulvaney addresses her evolving relationship with fashion. Initially adopting playful styles, she has shifted towards a more refined, confident look inspired by icons like Audrey Hepburn. “I was scared that as a trans woman, I was going to be overly sexualized… Now I really love my body,” she explained.

As she navigates the fashion world, Mulvaney emphasizes the importance of community and friendship among her peers in the industry. “Being anywhere where you don’t feel that sense of fear or otherness is such a beautiful thing,” she said. “I know I’m safe with these people. Being the only doll in the room can be scary, but it has also helped me grow.”

Looking toward the future, Mulvaney expressed interest in expanding her creative outlets, including collaborations in fashion design and writing more books. “How lovely it is that, if the internet goes down, we at least have books,” she said, hinting at a future that may include a book centered on her faith.
