Eagles Commit to A.J. Brown Despite Recent Struggles

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Eagles are reaffirming their commitment to receiver A.J. Brown amid a two-game losing streak. Despite trade speculation, the defending Super Bowl champions have informed other teams that they are not looking to move Brown, according to The Athletic.
Brown’s situation has garnered attention since he quoted a Bible verse following a Week 4 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After that 31-25 win, he clarified that his comments were not aimed at teammate Jalen Hurts or the coaching staff but were a result of his frustrations.
Before losing to the Denver Broncos and the New York Giants, the Eagles were undefeated. However, their offense has struggled, scoring just 34 points in the last two games. Insiders suggest that the Eagles regard Brown’s emotional outbursts as part of his complex personality.
This season, the Eagles’ offense has faced scrutiny, particularly under first-year coordinator Kevin Patullo. Despite injuries affecting the offensive line, the team’s performance has been criticized. Brown has recorded his lowest average of 11.0 yards per reception this season, but historical trends indicate he could improve as the season progresses.
Brown, 28, signed an extension in April 2024 that runs through the 2029 season, making a trade unlikely. The Eagles currently maintain a 4-2 record and lead the NFC East, being the only team in the division with a winning record.
As the NFL trade deadline approaches, the Eagles are actively seeking defensive help without considering a trade for Brown, who remains integral to their offensive plans.
