Eagles’ Saquon Barkley Listed as Injured Ahead of Giants Clash
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare for their upcoming matchup against the New York Giants, they face a growing injury concern with running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley is noted as a non-participant on the Eagles’ injury report due to a knee injury, raising alarms for the coaching staff and fans alike.
In the previous game against the Denver Broncos, Barkley only managed six carries for 30 yards and three receptions for 58 yards. Notably, no injury was reported during the game, where he played 72 percent of offensive snaps, a drop from his usual 85 percent over the season’s first four weeks.
Throughout the first five weeks of the season, Barkley has accumulated 267 rushing yards and three touchdowns, with an average of 3.2 yards per carry. He has also caught 17 passes for 128 yards and one touchdown.
Other players also contributed to the injury woes. Offensive lineman Landon Dickerson, dealing with an ankle issue, and tight end Grant Calcaterra, suffering from an oblique injury, were also listed as non-participants. Linebacker Jihaad Campbell (biceps) and defensive tackle Byron Young (triceps) were marked as limited in their participation.
In a slight silver lining, linebacker Nakobe Dean, returning from the physically unable to perform list, was listed as a full participant, easing concerns on the defensive side.
The Eagles did not hold a practice on Monday, making the injury report an estimation. With Barkley, Dickerson, and Calcaterra all potentially unavailable, the offense could face significant challenges. The team will have a clearer picture following Tuesday’s practice, which will be crucial for determining their participation in Thursday’s game against the Giants.
The extent of Barkley’s injury remains unclear, but it is already shaping the narrative for this week as the Eagles look to solidify their offensive lineup against a key division rival.
