EastEnders Fans Surprised by David Wicks’ Family Ties
Fans of the long-running British soap opera, EastEnders, have been left surprised after uncovering a familial connection between two prominent characters on the show. David Wicks, portrayed by actor Michael French, has returned to Albert Square after a significant hiatus, initially arriving in 1993. His comeback this week has rekindled interest in his character and the intertwined relationships in the drama.
David Wicks is a well-known character in the show, famous for his romantic exploits and tumultuous relationships. His initial entry involved attending his father Pete Beale‘s funeral, and over the years, he became entwined in numerous dramatic storylines, including attempts to form a romantic relationship with Bianca Jackson, later revealed as his daughter.
This week, viewers were reminded or learned for the first time of David’s connection to Ian Beale. David’s father, Pete Beale, was also the father of Ian Beale, making them half-brothers. The revelation prompted audience discussions on various social media platforms, with comments reflecting both surprise and humor.
One viewer commented on a Facebook fan page, expressing their bewilderment: “Just watching EastEnders how is Ian David’s half-brother?” Another remarked: “Yes, I only just clicked with this too, can’t believe I didn’t realize.”
Emma Baggott mentions how actor Michael French’s return has been welcomed by the production team. Speaking on his character’s return, French mentioned, “I feel honoured to be asked to reprise the role of David Wicks once again.”
Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw added, “David Wicks is undoubtedly one of EastEnders’ most beloved rogues. We are thrilled to welcome Michael French back as we lead up to the show’s 40th anniversary.”
EastEnders airs on BBC One and is also available on BBC iPlayer, with episodes broadcast from Monday to Thursday at 7:30 PM.
