Easter Weekend Forecast: Warm with Chance of Showers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 19, 2025) – WLKY Meteorologist Matt Milosevich reports a warm Easter weekend is ahead, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible, particularly on Saturday afternoon.
Temperatures on Saturday began in the mid-70s, reaching highs of around 80 degrees by afternoon. The favorable warm air is expected to contribute to some isolated showers moving in from nearby regions. Locations in southern Indiana and Kentucky could see a few sprinkles, especially later in the day.
“While we are expecting primarily dry conditions, the potential for thunderstorms exists, especially in the northwestern areas,” Milosevich said. “So if you have outdoor plans, it’s good to be prepared for a quick change in the weather.”
Morning temperatures across the area were reported in the mid to upper 60s, with a breeze making it feel warmer. Winds gusted throughout the morning, reaching up to 23 mph, although they are not anticipated to be as strong as those recorded the previous day.
Forecast radar indicates that the best potential for afternoon showers lies in southern Indiana, though a few may drift into central Kentucky as well. Skies will generally be mostly cloudy but will provide ample opportunity for dry conditions through the day.
Rain chances continue into Sunday, with the possibility of spotty showers mainly during the morning hours. However, the afternoon is projected to clear up with temperatures again peaking in the low 80s. “Easter Sunday looks to be a warmer day overall after any morning sprinkles clear out,” Milosevich noted.
Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to dip slightly with a cold front approaching on Monday, transitioning back to the mid-70s. Rain and thunderstorms will be possible early in the day, with drier conditions later. With many preparing for holiday gatherings and celebrations, the weather will play a crucial role in outdoor plans. Meteorologist Milosevich advises keeping an eye on forecasts for any changes.
