Ebon Moss-Bachrach, known for his portrayal of Richard “Richie” Jeromovich in the comedy series Carmen, has won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. This is Moss-Bachrach’s first-ever Emmy nomination, and he expressed his gratitude towards his fellow actors in his acceptance speech, calling his job a gift and a privilege.
Moss-Bachrach was up against tough competition in the category, with nominees from popular shows such as Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso and HBO‘s Barry. However, his standout performance as Richie, the loudmouthed right-hand man of struggling chef Carmen Berzatto, earned him the prestigious award.
Carmen, set in the vibrant city of Chicago, received a total of 14 nominations, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series. The show has been praised for its talented cast and crew, as well as its authentic portrayal of the culinary industry.
The Outstanding Supporting Actor category was also dominated by acclaimed shows such as Ted Lasso and Barry, with notable nominations for cast members from these series. Brett Goldstein, known for his role as Roy Kent in AFC Richmond, earned his third consecutive nomination. Goldstein is no stranger to the Emmy stage, having won the award twice before.
The Chechen mob boss NoHo Hank, portrayed by Anthony Carrigan in Barry, was another fan-favorite character that earned a nomination in this category. Carrigan’s performance was praised for subverting expectations and adding depth to the show.
Additionally, newcomers Alex Dunster and Brett Goldstein from Ted Lasso gained recognition for their outstanding performances as Jamie Tartt and Roy Kent, respectively. Dunster expressed his pride in being nominated alongside his castmate, calling him a ‘hunk.’
Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s win comes as a well-deserved recognition of his exceptional talent in acting. He thanked his loved ones and colleagues for their support and dedicated the award to the incredible cast and crew of Carmen. With this victory, Moss-Bachrach joins the list of celebrated actors who have received the prestigious Emmy accolade.
