Eiza González Faces Backlash for Cold Fan Interaction

MIAMI, Florida — Actress Eiza González is facing criticism on social media after a brief video of her interacting with fans was posted online. The incident occurred on May 5, 2025, as she was leaving a restaurant.
In the clip shared on TikTok, González is seen wearing a black miniskirt, a matching top, and high boots. She appears to respond to fans with a distant smile, which prompted some viewers to label her behavior as cold and ungrateful.
One excited fan approached her, only to receive a half-hearted smile as she focused on a cell phone camera. A few steps later, another man greeted her, and although they posed briefly for a photo, she quickly moved on, whispering something in his ear before hurrying to her car.
The video sparked a wave of reactions online. While many criticized González, claiming she was dismissive, others came to her defense, stating that celebrities also deserve privacy and might not always be in the mood to engage.
“Eiza winning as always, she looks incredible, and I would behave the same way,” one supporter wrote. Others reminded detractors that she owes no one constant accessibility.
González began her career in Mexican telenovelas, most notably starring in “Lola, érase una vez” and later in “Amores verdaderos.” She successfully transitioned to Hollywood, appearing in films like “Ambulance” and “Descuida, yo te cuido,” and has worked alongside stars like Natalie Portman and Henry Cavill.
In previous interviews, González has expressed feeling unsupported by some segments of the Mexican audience. At last year’s Met Gala, she remarked, “I feel proud to be Mexican, though sometimes I don’t feel the same love in return.”
The incident in Miami raises questions about the expectations placed on celebrities by fans and society.
