The Quebec-based duo Élégie is gearing up to captivate its audience at the upcoming Festival d’Été de Québec on July 9th, taking the stage at the vibrant place d’Youville. The group, consisting of Lawrence Villeneuve on vocals and guitar, and Maxence Girard on the keyboard, has been honing their musical craft over the past decade.

Since the release of their debut album ‘Romantisme’ in October 2023, Élégie has seen a surge in popularity, with their unique musical style resonating with a growing number of listeners. The album, which had a gestation period of about three years, faced its share of challenges, including those brought about by the events of 2020.

Lawrence Villeneuve, one of the founding members of Élégie, expressed the band’s excitement over the positive reception of their album and the increasing turnout at their live performances post-album release.

When it comes to translating their studio compositions into live performances, Villeneuve emphasized the continuity in energy and vibe. The group aims to deliver music that is energetic, enjoyable, and engaging both in the studio and on stage.

Playing at the prestigious Festival d’Été de Québec holds a special significance for Élégie. Villeneuve described it as a milestone for a Quebec-based band, highlighting their journey from being spectators at the festival to performing on one of its stages, particularly the renowned one at place d’Youville. It is indeed an honor for the duo.

Joining Villeneuve and Girard on stage for the July 9th concert will be the talented musicians Jérémie Dufour on bass and Antoine Boily-Duguay on drums. Both Dufour and Boily-Duguay have been integral parts of Élégie’s musical journey, adding their unique flair to the group’s sound.

Looking ahead, Élégie is focused on creating new music and exploring fresh sonic territories. While maintaining their signature style, the duo is eager to experiment with new sounds and textures, building on the foundations laid by ‘Romantisme’ and evolving their musical identity.
