Elle King's Tough Relationship With Dad Rob Schneider

Elle King is opening up about her complicated relationship with her father, comedian Rob Schneider. In a recent chat on Bunnie XO‘s podcast, the singer shared that she often goes years without talking to her dad.

King pointed out some painful memories, like how Schneider supposedly forgot every birthday she had. She even recalled her 18th birthday spent in summer school, where she was brought cupcakes but returned home to find out her dad had forgotten the day entirely.

As a child, she revealed that spending time with him usually meant being on set for his movies, leading to her feeling like she’d disappear amidst the chaos. King mentioned she felt a lot of pressure and got in trouble if she distracted him during filming.

Additionally, King opened up about her childhood experience at “fat camp,” which was initiated by her dad’s concerns about her weight. After hurting her ankle there, she ended up not losing any weight, adding to her sense of frustration with him.

She also disclosed that she and Schneider have disagreed on various topics, particularly his comments regarding LGBTQ+ rights. King didn’t hold back when she expressed her thoughts, stating, ‘He’s just talking out of his a–.’ She mentioned she’s not afraid to voice her disagreement with opinions he has shared publicly.

Despite their ups and downs, King noted how she didn’t seek his help when launching her music career. At that point, she had already been distanced from him for several years.
