Ellen Pompeo Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star

LOS ANGELES — Ellen Pompeo, celebrated actress known for her role in “Grey's Anatomy,” shared her thoughts on the future of Hollywood during her recent Walk of Fame star ceremony. Speaking with Fox News Digital, the 55-year-old expressed her hopes for the industry when her children are of age to pursue careers in acting.

“Hopefully, there still will be a Hollywood if my kids want it,” Pompeo said. “When they’re old enough, when they’re 18, my kids can do whatever they want, and I really hope that all the kids coming up have the same opportunities that I had because our business is changing so rapidly.”

Pompeo, who shares three children with her husband, Chris Ivery, highlighted the evolving landscape of auditions today. Many actors now submit self-tapes instead of auditioning in person. “It’s a really different story,” she explained. “I really hope that we can keep traditions like this and some of the traditions of this town alive.”

The actress rose to fame in 2005 as Dr. Meredith Grey on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” and remained a series regular until the 19th season. Despite her less frequent appearances now, she expressed gratitude for the opportunities she’s had along the way.

Pompeo thanked her colleagues, including “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes, during her speech. She acknowledged that her career journey has been defined by the support of others. “The stars really have aligned for me my whole life,” she said. “I’ve learned how to be here, how to stand here, because of the people in my life.”

Following her walk of fame honor, Pompeo will star in a Hulu show that tells the story of a couple adopting an orphan with dwarfism. “I was just looking for something very different from Meredith Grey,” Pompeo said about her new role.
