Emma Roberts Shares Her Top Book Picks for Autumn
The Hollywood actress Emma Roberts has unveiled her curated list of favorite reads for the autumn season, drawing from her recent travels through Europe. Known for her multifaceted career and passion for literature, Roberts embarked on a journey that merged these interests, resulting in a selection of books ideal for cozy reading sessions as the seasons change.
During her travels, which included attending the summer Olympics, Roberts made sure to incorporate visits to local bookstores. “No matter where I’m going, I always find time to stop at a local bookstore to discover my next read,” she shared. Among her favored locations are John Sandoe in London, OFR Bookshop in Paris, La Bola in Barcelona, and Prospero’s Books in Milan.
Roberts attributed her long-standing love for reading to her formative years. “I was home-schooled for high school because I was traveling for work,” she explained, noting that the habit of carrying a book or two has remained constant. In 2017, this passion led Roberts and her best friend, Karah Preiss, to co-found an online book club, further nurturing her literary interests.
The actress’s fall reading list includes classics and contemporary psychological thrillers. Among her recommendations is “The Talented Mr. Ripley” by Patricia Highsmith, a thrilling narrative about a con-man’s adventures in Italy. “I love Highsmith’s descriptions of the Italian coast, and the adventures Mr. Ripley takes after inserting himself into the world of Dickie Greenleaf is so addictive,” she shared.
Another autumn pick is Ernest Hemingway‘s memoir “A Moveable Feast,” chronicling his expatriate life in 1920s Paris. Roberts described it as “a great book for inspiring creativity,” ideal for a quick trip, such as from London to Paris.
Rounding out her selections is “My Husband” by Maud Ventura, a novel exploring a French woman’s romantic obsession and the complexity of her relationship. Roberts recommended it for those seeking “a little romantic intrigue with really smart prose,” especially if traveling through Europe.
