Emma Watson and Tom Felton: A Timeless Friendship Born on the Harry Potter Set
Emma Watson and Tom Felton, known for their iconic roles as Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, have a friendship that has endured long after the cameras stopped rolling. The two actors met while filming the first Harry Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” in 2000. At the time, Emma Watson was just nine years old and had a crush on the 12-year-old Tom Felton, a feeling she later revealed in an interview with Seventeen magazine.
As the series progressed, Tom Felton played a significant role in helping Emma navigate the challenges of fame. According to producer David Heyman, during the filming of “Prisoner of Azkaban,” Tom encouraged Emma to engage more with fans, providing her with the support she needed to cope with her rising celebrity status.
Their friendship has only grown stronger over the years. In October 2022, Emma Watson wrote the foreword for Tom Felton’s memoir, “Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard.” In her heartfelt foreword, Emma described Tom as her “soulmate,” highlighting the deep bond they share.
Tom Felton has also expressed his deep affection for Emma, stating in an interview with Elle Australia that he loves her and is grateful for her support, particularly for being the first to read the drafts of his book and for writing the foreword.
