Emmy Rossum Makes Off-Broadway Debut in Sci-Fi Play ‘Walden’
Actress Emmy Rossum, known for her iconic role as Fiona Gallagher in the TV series ‘Shameless,’ has marked her Off-Broadway debut with the new sci-fi play ‘Walden.’ Written by Amy Berryman and directed by Whitney White, ‘Walden’ is currently playing at Second Stage‘s Tony Kiser Theater, with an opening night set for November 7.
The play is set in a near-future scenario and follows the story of two estranged twin sisters, Stella (played by Rossum) and Cassie (played by Zoë Winters). Both sisters were raised by their father to become NASA scientists, but only Cassie has pursued this career path. The narrative explores their reunion in a remote cabin, where they confront old conflicts and grapple with the decision of whether to remain on Earth or pursue life in space.
Rossum’s performance in ‘Walden’ is her first venture into Off-Broadway theater, adding a new dimension to her diverse acting career. She is best known for her roles in ‘Shameless’ and the film adaptation of ‘The Phantom of the Opera,’ among other notable works.
