Gavin And Stacey Filming Final Scene

Alison Steadman, the acclaimed actress known for her role as Pam Shipman in the popular sitcom “Gavin and Stacey,” has revealed that the filming of the show’s final scenes was an emotional experience for the cast. “Ninety percent of us were in tears,” Steadman said, underscoring the emotional weight of concluding the much-loved series.

The show’s co-creators, James Corden and Ruth Jones, announced in May that “Gavin and Stacey” would return for a final episode, which is scheduled to air on Christmas Day. Filming began in September, drawing significant fan attention with many gathering at key locations across the Vale of Glamorgan to catch a glimpse of the beloved characters.

“We were all dreading that final scene,” Steadman shared, reflecting on the camaraderie that developed over the five weeks of filming. “It’s been so fantastic,” she added, describing the series as one of her “most favourite, fun jobs.”

The return of “Gavin and Stacey” in 2019 for a festive special episode proved immensely popular, attracting an audience of 11.6 million on the night and becoming the most-watched scripted programme of the decade with 17.1 million viewers by January. That episode later earned the Impact Award at the 2020 National Television Awards.

Fans eager to witness the final moments of their beloved show have been flocking to locations such as Pam and Mick’s Essex house, famously filmed in Dinas Powys, Barry. Owain Cleese, a dedicated fan from Barry, commented, “It puts Barry on the map.” This sentiment captures the show’s impact on the local area, attracting visitors and boosting its profile.

The original series aired between 2007 and 2010, depicting the relationship journey of Gavin and Stacey, characters from Essex and Barry, played by Mathew Horne and Joanna Page. The final episode, anticipated by many fans, will be available on BBC iPlayer and BBC One, marking the end of a significant chapter in British television.

The final filming moments were also documented by BBC via their social media, citing it as “a wrap… for the last time ever.” As the show prepares to air its concluding episode, it leaves a lasting legacy on its fans, cast, and the place it so vividly brought to life.
