Energy Conservation Alerts Introduced for Summer Usage

San Antonio, Texas — As summer heats up, CPS Energy is launching an initiative featuring Cam the Chameleon to help residents conserve energy.
The energy company emphasizes that summer is often the most energy-intensive season, with air conditioning units and appliances running continuously. Cam will change color daily to reflect conservation levels: Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red.
Most days will be designated as Green Days, which encourage general energy-saving actions. As temperatures rise, Yellow Days will alert consumers to increase their conservation efforts, particularly during peak demand hours, which are highlighted on CPS Energy’s website.
Orange and Red Alerts will only be issued if the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) states that the electrical grid’s reliability is at risk. During these alerts, CPS Energy advises residents to limit their power usage and monitor updates on their website and social media.
CPS Energy encourages all customers to sign up for alerts and utilize online tools to monitor their energy usage. With Cam the Chameleon guiding them, residents can manage their energy needs while keeping costs down this summer.
CPS Energy is the nation’s largest public power company, servicing San Antonio and neighboring counties with safe and reliable energy.
