Entergy’s Commitment to Affordable Energy in Louisiana Amid Rising Costs

New Orleans, Louisiana — Entergy Louisiana has reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable and affordable energy to its customers. During a recent announcement, the company highlighted efforts to keep energy costs significantly below the national average, while also planning for a more resilient power infrastructure.
Entergy has reported that its energy costs are approximately 33% lower than the national average and consistently among the lowest in the state for the past 15 years. The company emphasized the importance of this affordability for all its customers, from grocery store owners to hospital administrators.
In the last decade, Entergy has invested billions in modernizing the electrical grid and upgrading its power generation facilities. This investment has helped to minimize rate increases, which have generally remained at or below the rate of inflation. The company’s approach focuses on efficiency and sustainability while striving to limit the impact of energy costs on consumers.
One of the key initiatives is the reinforcement of the electrical grid to withstand severe weather. Entergy anticipates that this will save Louisiana customers an estimated $1.2 billion in avoided storm costs. As part of this effort, Phase 1 includes 2,100 planned projects throughout the state, already underway.
Modernizing the generation fleet is another priority for Entergy. By adopting modern technologies, the company aims to enhance its generation capacity while also being flexible to fluctuations in fuel prices. A diverse range of power sources makes the energy system more reliable and cost-effective for customers.
Additionally, to manage fuel costs effectively, Entergy ensures that customers pay exactly what the company pays for fuel without any markup. This strategy is designed to shield customers from the volatility associated with fuel price changes.
Furthermore, Entergy is working to recruit new large customers into its service area. This strategy not only aims to boost job creation but also to share the cost burden, ultimately benefiting residential customers.
Entergy has also made strides in social support, helping low-income customers receive $55 million in federal tax refunds during the 2024 tax season and continuing to offer assistance programs for those in need. The recent approval from the Louisiana Public Service Commission for fee reductions further demonstrates Entergy’s commitment to customer assistance.
As the company continues to navigate rising costs and inflation, Entergy remains focused on minimizing the impact on its customers’ bills, ensuring that reliable and affordable energy is always a priority. “This is our home too, and we are dedicated to serving you,” said Brandon Scardigli, Manager of Entergy Louisiana Communications.
