LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The hit animated series ‘Invincible‘ is set to escalate its thrilling narrative next week as Mark Grayson, voiced by Steven Yeun, confronts a formidable new villain, Conquest. This epic showdown promises not only intense action but also an intriguing twist: Conquest is voiced by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, known for his iconic role as Negan in ‘The Walking Dead.’

The upcoming episode is slated to air next Thursday, following the season’s penultimate episode that intensified the stakes for Grayson and his allies. In this episode, titled ‘Invincible War,’ Mark is left battered after facing Angstrom Levy and a multiverse of Evil Invincibles. Now, he must confront Conquest, a Viltrumite who questions Mark’s preparedness for the Viltrum Empire’s ambitions.

Robert Kirkman, the creator of both ‘Invincible’ and ‘The Walking Dead,’ announced that the final two episodes of the season would be the most impactful yet. “We had a significant turning point with the death of Rex Splode. The stakes just got higher,” he stated.

In the lore of ‘The Walking Dead,’ Morgan’s character, Negan, infamously killed Yeun’s character, Glenn, with a barbed-wire baseball bat named Lucille. The casting of Morgan as Conquest creates a direct connection to their past roles, promising fans a thrilling rematch as Mark faces off against his new enemy.

While anticipation builds, many fans are eager to see if Mark can overcome Conquest, who possesses unparalleled strength and is a daunting challenge even among Viltrumites. Steven Yeun, reflecting on his character’s journey, has expressed hope that this battle will provide a chance for redemption: “I’m excited to see how this unfolds. It’s a brutal universe.”

As ‘Invincible’ continues to gather momentum, its track record of intertwining narratives with familiar faces from the comic universe is a hallmark of Kirkman’s storytelling. Previous episodes have featured additional alumni from ‘The Walking Dead,’ including Khary Payton as Black Samson and Lauren Cohan as War Woman.

“Casting Jeffrey Morgan felt too great not to do. Conquest requires a nuanced performance and Jeffrey was a perfect fit,” Kirkman explained to Entertainment Weekly.

As the series approaches what Kirkman envisions as an eight-season arc, audiences can expect the tension and intensity to only grow. Fans can look forward to witnessing this highly anticipated battle and its implications in the ongoing saga of ‘Invincible.’
