49ers Sign Veteran Linebacker Eric Kendricks to Practice Squad
San Francisco, CA — The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed veteran linebacker Eric Kendricks to their practice squad on November 26, 2025. This move comes as Tatum Bethune, a key player, remains sidelined due to injury.
Kendricks, 33, previously played for the Dallas Cowboys, where he appeared in 15 games last season. During that time, he recorded 138 tackles, three sacks, and one interception. However, he has not played this season, leading to questions about his current fitness and readiness for the field.
Before signing De’Vondre Campbell in the 2024 offseason, the 49ers had pursued Kendricks, intending him to replace Dre Greenlaw. The team had a challenging outing against the Carolina Panthers, with Curtis Robinson missing multiple tackles during the game. With Bethune’s absence, the 49ers lacked alternatives until Kendricks joined.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan expressed optimism about Kendricks’ experience helping ease his transition onto the field. “We hope he can contribute quickly,” Shanahan said. “He brings a lot of talent and knowledge to our defense.”
The 49ers are now eager to see how Kendricks performs and what role he will play once Bethune returns from injury. Kendricks’ ability to enhance the 49ers’ pass defense could provide a much-needed boost. The team is set to face more challenges ahead, and this signing could prove to be significant for their defensive strategy.
