Eight Super Eagles players face delays in joining the team in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, impacted by an ongoing national strike. The affected players including Maduka Okoye, Semi Ajayi, and Alex Iwobi are unable to reach the camp due to the halted domestic flights.

With 15 players already present, a Monday morning session at Godswill Akpabio Stadium saw the likes of Ndidi Wilfred and Kelechi Iheanacho participate in drills under coach Finidi George. The training lasted two hours, combining fitness exercises and tactical preparations.

Notably absent from the squad training were key names such as Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman, raising concerns over team readiness for the upcoming matches against South Africa and Benin Republic. The team is set to face South Africa on June 7 followed by an away fixture in Cote d'Ivoire against Benin Republic on June 10.
