ESPN Launches Direct-to-Consumer Streaming Service at $29.99/Month

New York, NY – ESPN announced today that its new direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming service will be named ESPN and will launch this fall. ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro revealed the service aims to provide sports fans with full access to all of ESPN’s offerings in one convenient place.
The streaming service will offer two subscription plans: an unlimited package priced at $29.99 per month and a select option at $11.99 per month. The unlimited plan gives fans access to all ESPN networks along with more than 47,000 live events each year, on-demand replays, studio shows, and original programming.
“We are providing everything ESPN has to offer directly to fans and all in one place,” said Pitaro. The service will integrate with the enhanced ESPN App, allowing fans easier access to content. There are also bundling options with Disney+ and Hulu, which will be available at a promotional rate of $29.99/month for the first year.
The unlimited plan includes networks such as ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Deportes, along with access to popular shows like SportsCenter, First Take, and College GameDay. The select plan grants subscribers access to ESPN+, which features over 32,000 live sports events annually.
Current ESPN+ subscribers will automatically transition to the new service from ESPN. Those who subscribe to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN bundles will seamlessly access content across platforms.
Pitaro highlighted the goal of simplifying the streaming options in a crowded market while addressing the 60 million households without ESPN access via traditional pay TV. The service launch is expected to coincide with the beginning of the fall sports season.
Additional details about the specific launch date and new app features will be released later this summer.
