Eva Mendes Proudly Defends Ryan Gosling's Role As Ken In Barbie

Eva Mendes took to Instagram to praise her longtime partner Ryan Gosling after he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Ken in the movie ‘Barbie.’ The actress also used the opportunity to address the criticism Gosling faced prior to the film’s release, with many doubting his suitability for the role. Sharing a screenshot of an article that had criticized Gosling’s portrayal of Ken, she expressed her pride in his achievement and acknowledged the obstacles he faced.

Mendes wrote in the caption, ‘So proud of my man. So much hate when he took on this role. So many people [were] trying to shame him for doing it.’ Refusing to be deterred by the negativity, she commended him for creating an original and iconic character that showcased his talent. She concluded the post by stating how proud she was to be his Ken’s Barbie.’

Eva Mendes received overwhelming support online, including from Gosling’s co-star in ‘Barbie,’ America Ferrera, who applauded his exceptional performance and his unwavering support for women. Mendes enthusiastically replied to Ferrera’s comment, congratulating her on her own nomination and referring to her as a sister.

This post came after Ryan Gosling expressed his disappointment with the Oscars nominations, particularly with the exclusion of ‘Barbie’s’ director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie from their respective categories. In a statement, Gosling emphasized his belief that the exceptional work of Gerwig and Robbie should be recognized alongside the other deserving nominees.
