HAMILTON, Bermuda — Everest Group, Ltd. (NYSE: EG), a global leader in property, casualty, and specialty insurance and reinsurance, announced an immediate leadership transition on Monday. Jim Williamson, Executive Vice President and Group Chief Operating Officer, has been named Acting CEO and has joined the company’s Board of Directors, effective immediately.

The appointment follows the departure of Juan C. Andrade, who served as President and CEO since 2020. Andrade is leaving to take on the role of CEO at another prominent financial services firm. Williamson, a 20-year veteran of the insurance industry, brings extensive experience to his new role, having held senior positions at The Hartford, Chubb, and ACE.

“The Board of Directors has great confidence in Jim and is pleased to have appointed him to take the helm at Everest,” said Joseph Taranto, Chairman of the Board. “His appointment is consistent with the Board’s succession planning process, and we believe that his deep experience spanning insurance and reinsurance sectors, functional areas, and geography will deliver value for stakeholders and position Everest well for the future.”

Williamson joined Everest in 2020 as Group COO and expanded his role to Head of the Reinsurance Division in May 2021. In March 2024, he was promoted to lead both the Reinsurance and Insurance businesses. His career spans commercial, specialty, and consumer lines of business in the U.S. and internationally.

Everest Group, known for its disciplined underwriting and risk management, is a component of the S&P 500 index. The company operates globally, providing insurance and reinsurance solutions to address customers’ most pressing challenges.
