Brad Pitt F1 Movie Premiere

MONACO, Monaco — The 2025 Formula 1 grid gathered in Monaco on Wednesday for a private screening of the highly anticipated film, “F1: The Movie”. The film features Brad Pitt as fictional driver Sonny Hayes and is scheduled for public release on June 25, with North American audiences getting their first look on June 27.

In attendance were 18 current F1 drivers, who shared their initial thoughts on the film. Notably absent were Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll. The event saw plenty of excitement, with drivers eager to discuss their experiences within the movie.

“It’s Hollywood, so you need to take a step back,” said Nico Hülkenberg, referring to the film’s stylistic choices. He acknowledged that while the film is dramatized, it captures the essence of Formula 1 life. Fellow driver Lando Norris added that the storyline provides inspiration for young fans looking to enter the sport.

Others, like Carlos Sainz, appreciated how the film appeals to both new and existing fans. “I think it will attract a lot of new audiences who don’t know anything about F1,” he said. “For us experts, we may notice differences, but that’s expected with a Hollywood production.”

Moreover, feedback on the film’s racing scenes focused on their realism. Fernando Alonso, a two-time world champion, felt that the action portrayed in the film was largely authentic. “Nearly all of the movie, in terms of track action, was very original and representative of our sport,” he stated.

The screening was particularly meaningful for Lewis Hamilton, who served as a producer and consultant on the film. “I was nervous sitting with the drivers. I wanted them to appreciate the film,” Hamilton remarked.

The premiere also illustrated the ongoing relationship between the sport and Hollywood, with actors and production teams merging with the F1 world. “It’s going to bring a fresh perspective to both fans and newcomers,” said rookie driver Kimi Antonelli.

As fans await its release, anticipation grows for the film’s ability to bridge the gap between Formula 1 and mainstream audiences.
