Excitement Grows For The Paris 2024 Olympic Closing Ceremony

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are wrapping up soon, and all eyes are on the closing ceremony, set to take place at the iconic Stade de France. This event promises to be a grand celebration after an exhilarating Games. We already had amazing performances at the opening ceremony by Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, and now everyone is buzzing about who will headline the final show.

For those in Australia, mark your calendars for Monday, August 12, as that’s when the ceremony kicks off. It will begin just after the last event, the women’s marathon. Fans can catch it live on Channel Nine or stream it on Stan Sport.

Thomas Jolly is back to direct the artistic vision for the closing ceremony. He aims to create a spectacle that combines the traditional elements like the parade of flags and athletes with a twist. Over a hundred performers, from acrobats to dancers, will light up the Stade de France, turning it into a gigantic theater.

The show, dubbed ‘Records,’ will not be just a routine farewell. Jolly has promised an aerial display alongside stunning lighting and dress effects. He wants to take the audience on a journey through time, reflecting on the history and future of the Olympic Games.

French artists Phoenix and Air are confirmed to perform, highlighting local talent, but there’s also speculation about major international superstars joining in. Fans are buzzing about the possibility of Beyoncé taking the stage since she’s shown support for athletes in the past. Likewise, stars like Snoop Dogg and Ariana Grande have been seen around the Games, adding fuel to the rumor mill.

In addition to the performances, Tom Cruise is expected to play a role during the official handover ceremony that will transition the Games from Paris to Los Angeles, the US host of the next Olympics in 2028. It’s set up to be an action-packed segment showcasing what the future holds for the Olympic scene.

Entering the stadium will be an electric experience, with various celebrities already spotted around Paris, including Cynthia Erivo and John Legend, raising anticipation for the event. The closing ceremony will culminate in the official handover of the Olympic flag to Los Angeles and will also nod toward Brisbane, which will host the Games in 2032.

While the Olympics might be wrapping up, the spirit of competition continues with the Paralympics set to kick off just a few weeks later, bringing more excitement to the City of Lights.
