Fallout 76 Launches Ghoul Within Update: Transform into a Ghoul Today!

Rockville, Maryland — Bethesda has announced the launch of the highly anticipated Ghoul Within update for Fallout 76, set to go live today. This update introduces a groundbreaking feature allowing players to transform their characters into ghouls, a first for the series, through a new questline titled “Leap of Faith” in the Savage Divide.

The update, which is approximately 18.9 GB, also kicks off Season 20: Glow of the Ghoul and introduces 30 new perks alongside two new abilities for players who embrace this irradiated transformation. Glow enhances players’ maximum health based on their radiation level, while Feral modifies combat effectiveness based on drug consumption.

“For the first time, players can experience life as a ghoul, complete with unique mechanics and perks that set them apart from their human counterparts,” said Bethesda in a statement. This transformation, however, comes with its drawbacks, including negative interactions with certain factions, like the Brotherhood of Steel, and potentially locking players out of several questlines.

If players find themselves longing for human interactions, a disguise can be obtained to reverse the ghoul transformation temporarily, although permanent reversion will come at a cost of 1,000 atoms, approximately $10 USD.

Joining the update is a new Level 50 Character Boost for players jumping into the endgame content. Patch notes reveal a variety of balancing tweaks as well, including adjustments to various perk names for improved sorting, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience for all users.
