Fashion’s Biggest Night: 2025 Met Gala Unveils Dazzling Red Carpet Arrivals

NEW YORK, NY — The 2025 Met Gala kicked off May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, featuring the star-studded arrivals showcasing this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The event, known for its exclusive guest list, also serves as a major fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute.
This year, the gala’s dress code encouraged guests to embrace menswear while celebrating the Black dandy. Co-chairs include Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour. This year’s theme was inspired by Monica L. Miller‘s book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity,” which will coincide with a new exhibition opening at The Met on May 10.
The excitement began with arrivals on the blue carpet. Rihanna, who is pregnant with her second child, expressed her joy in a stunning outfit accentuating her baby bump. Her partner, A$AP Rocky, confirmed her stylish choice while turning heads onlookers with his own custom design.
Sabrina Carpenter grabbed attention in a stylish burgundy bodysuit from Louis Vuitton designed by Williams, declaring her look was a fun nod to her height since she wore no pants. “It’s my third Met, never been to the bathroom once,” Carpenter joked, recalling struggles with past outfits.
Walton Goggins and Lorde showcased artistic flair, with Goggins in a striking black-and-white ensemble while Lorde dazzled in a gravity-defying gray outfit commended by creative director Kpoene Kofi-Bruce for its daring design.
Among the evening’s best moments was Colman Domingo, who impressed in a regal blue Valentino outfit layered with a custom cape and an intricate floral arrangement, stating, “I feel like a king” while explaining his unique narrative through fashion.
Meanwhile, Diana Ross made a sweeping entrance in an iconic all-white ensemble featuring a dramatic cape emblazoned with family names, a statement of her legacy that resonated with attendees.
Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens were spotted preparing together for their big night, while celebrity couple Al Roker and Deborah Roberts had a charming surprising reunion on the carpet. Roker made his debut at the gala, showcasing a classic suit along with his signature top hat.
This year’s Met Gala also honored the importance of Black identities through fashion, as demonstrated by Bad Bunny who opted for a sophisticated brown suit, referencing his own heritage. “I feel good. I hope people think that I’m looking good,” he remarked on the blue carpet.
