Fastag Kyc Update Deadline On January 31: How To Do It, Documents Needed

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that the Know Your Customer (KYC) details for FASTag must be updated before the January 31 deadline. Failure to update the KYC details will result in deactivation or blacklisting of all FASTags, regardless of the balance in the account. FASTag is an electronic toll collection system that simplifies toll payments at toll plazas.

To update your KYC for FASTag, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official FASTag website and log in using your mobile number and the OTP received on your phone.
  2. In the ‘My Profile’ section, click on the KYC tab.
  3. Enter all the necessary details and click submit.
  4. Required documents for FASTag KYC include a Vehicle Registration Certificate, Identity proof, Address proof, and a passport-size photo.

To check the KYC status of your FASTag, visit the bank-linked Fastag website and log in using OTP and your registered mobile number. The website will display the current KYC status.

FASTag, which uses RFID technology, is attached to the vehicle’s windscreen and linked to a bank account or prepaid card. When a vehicle with a FASTag approaches a toll plaza, the RFID scanner scans the tag and deducts the applicable toll amount.

The deadline for updating the KYC details is January 31, 2024, to prevent multiple FASTags issuance for the same vehicle without proper verification. Banks will deactivate or blacklist FASTags without completed KYC updates after the deadline, regardless of the account balance.

This announcement by NHAI is crucial for vehicle owners who frequently use highways and toll plazas for their daily commutes. It ensures the smooth functioning of the FASTag system and prevents fraudulent activities.
