FBI Director Kash Patel Accused of Inexperience in Leaked Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A leaked assessment from 24 current and former FBI agents has criticized FBI Director Kash Patel, describing the agency as a “rudderless ship” and claiming that he is “in over his head.” The 115-page document highlights serious concerns about leadership and morale within the bureau.
The report, which is set to be reviewed by both the House and Senate Judiciary Committees, labels Patel’s initial six months as director as a period of chronic underperformance characterized by fear among FBI managers hesitant to make independent decisions.
According to the assessment, Patel’s previous allegations against the FBI, including labeling it part of a “deep state” conspiracy, have contributed to an environment where managers are afraid of losing their positions. One source in the report noted that Patel “lacks the requisite knowledge” of the FBI’s complex operations.
White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson defended Patel, stating, “FBI Director Patel is a critical member of the President’s team and he is working tirelessly to restore integrity to the FBI.”
Concerns about Patel’s leadership style were also underscored in the report. Agents expressed that he exhibited a culture of mistrust and uncertainty among the ranks. One example detailed an incident where Patel delayed disembarking from a government jet due to not having the appropriate attire, which distracted agents from their urgent investigative tasks.
Critics within the FBI claim that Patel’s lack of experience has tarnished the agency’s reputation, and they argue that feared consequences have paralyzed initiative among those he leads. While some have acknowledged positive changes in immigration enforcement under Patel, many feel that deeper reforms are necessary.
The tension comes as Patel has also faced scrutiny over various operational decisions and media relations during his tenure. As debates continue in Congress over the FBI’s leadership, the evaluation report may add pressure to Patel’s position.
