Final Destination: Bloodlines Trailer Reveals Franchise’s Dark Origins
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The first trailer and poster for “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” the sixth installment in the popular horror franchise, have been released, promising a chilling return to the origins of Death’s twisted design. The film, set to hit theaters and IMAX on May 16, 2025, explores a multigenerational curse that ties a family to a deadly cycle of fate.
Starring Kaitlyn Santa Juana (“The Flash”), Teo Briones (“Chucky”), Richard Harmon (“The 100”), and late horror legend Tony Todd, the movie follows college student Stefanie as she grapples with violent recurring nightmares. Desperate to save her family from a grisly fate, Stefanie returns home to uncover the truth behind the curse. The film also features Brec Bassinger (“Stargirl”), Anna Lore (“Doom Patrol”), and Rya Kihlstedt (“Dexter”).
Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein (“Freaks”) and written by Guy Busick (“Scream 5, Scream 6”) and Lori Evans Taylor (“Cellar Door”), “Final Destination: Bloodlines” weaves a dual-timeline narrative. The story begins in the 1960s, when Stefanie’s grandmother predicts a catastrophic building collapse, saving a group of people from death. Decades later, Stefanie begins experiencing visions of her family’s impending doom, leading her to confront the sinister sequence of events.
Longtime franchise producers Craig Perry and Sheila Taylor return, joined by Jon Watts (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”), who also shares story credit. The film marks the first appearance of Tony Todd’s iconic mortician character, William Bludworth, since the original 2000 film.
“Final Destination: Bloodlines” aims to revitalize the franchise, which has seen diminishing returns in recent years. The multigenerational storyline and fresh cast could attract a new generation of fans while appealing to longtime followers of the series. The film’s release will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original “Final Destination,” adding to its significance.
In addition to the trailer release, New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. unveiled a haunting poster featuring the tagline, “Death Runs in the Family.” The poster hints at the film’s dark tone and the inevitability of its characters’ fates.
As the franchise prepares for its return, it faces competition from other horror releases, including Osgood Perkins‘ Stephen King adaptation, “The Monkey,” which also features graphic death scenes. However, with its unique narrative and legacy, “Final Destination: Bloodlines” is poised to make a strong impact at the box office.
