Final Season of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ to Premiere on Hulu April 8

LOS ANGELES, California — The highly anticipated final season of Hulu‘s acclaimed series “The Handmaid's Tale” premieres April 8, featuring the first three episodes that will lead viewers into a tumultuous climax of the story.
Elisabeth Moss, who stars as protagonist June, alongside Bradley Whitford and O-T Fagbenle, provided insights during a recent Paley Fest event, revealing hints about the show’s trajectory. Moss emphasized the importance of revisiting earlier seasons to fully grasp the unfolding events of this final chapter.
“We have so much in the show that references previous seasons,” said Moss. “It’s the culmination of so many storylines that I feel like the best way to watch this season is to kind of make sure that you’re really caught up, because we do pay attention to what has happened in the past.”
According to the season six synopsis, June’s unwavering determination leads her back into the fight against Gilead. Her partner Luke and friend Moira join the resistance, while Serena attempts to reform Gilead, and Commander Lawrence and Aunt Lydia grapple with the consequences of their actions. Nick will also face significant moral challenges.
O-T Fagbenle, who plays Luke, teased, “I think people have wanted revenge and revolution and I think they may get it,” raising excitement among fans. He elaborated, “People are gonna die. People are gonna be tortured. It’s ‘Handmaid’s’ after all. But I think there’s also a lot of emotional satisfaction that happens and a little love.”
Amanda Brugel, portraying Rita, added, “I think that fans are going to get so much more than they could ever expect and then some. The people that you think that you can trust their heart necessarily, that you can trust…which is scary. Not everyone is a hero in Gilead and not everyone is a villain.”
Samira Wiley, who plays Moira, expressed her gratitude for being involved in the series, stating, “It’s been an honor, a privilege and joy. It will be a part of my legacy as an actor. And I am just so lucky to have been a part of it.”
Bradley Whitford, known for his role as Commander Lawrence, remarked on the show’s legacy. “It ticks off all the boxes of what makes a show iconic. It needs to be amazing storytelling. It needs to be beautifully shot. It’s based on a story that has unfortunate urgent relevance these days,” he said.
The first three episodes of “The Handmaid’s Tale” season six will be available April 8 on Hulu, followed by weekly episode releases.
