Finn Wolfhard Reveals Buzz Cut at Crunchyroll Anime Awards in Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan – Actor and musician Finn Wolfhard debuted a striking buzz cut at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards on Sunday, May 25. The 22-year-old arrived at the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa alongside his Stranger Things co-star Gaten Matarazzo, also 22.
Wolfhard, known for his longer hair, showcased his new look in a sparkly black-and-white suit jacket, trousers, and black boots. The duo presented the Best Continuing Series award to the popular anime, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, during the ceremony.
This appearance comes just before the release of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, set to premiere this year on Netflix. Wolfhard has portrayed Mike Wheeler in the series since its debut in July 2016.
Reflecting on the filming of the series, Wolfhard stated, “I was so happy with my character’s ending. I was satisfied, but I was also very confused and sad, but also very happy.” He reminisced about completing filming, describing it as feeling surreal and perfect.
In an interview published earlier in April, he described the emotional experience of filming the last scene, explaining that it didn’t fully hit him until the following day. “It was like an emotional hangover,” he added. “But it ended really well, and I just have such positive things to say about everyone.”
In addition to his transformation, Wolfhard is also promoting his directorial debut and will release his solo music project titled Happy Birthday in June. Meanwhile, celebrities like Brad Pitt have also recently sported buzz cuts, adding to the trend this summer.
