FKA Twigs Withdraws From Coachella, Rescheduling Tour Dates

INDIO, Calif. — FKA Twigs announced on social media that she has withdrawn from her scheduled performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival due to ongoing visa issues, impacting her tour plans for April. The singer, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, expressed her disappointment in a heartfelt statement.
In her message, Twigs, 37, stated, “I’m devastated to share the news that due to ongoing visa issues I am not able to see through any of my scheduled tour dates for the remainder of April across North America, including Ceremonia and Coachella.” She assured her fans that she is working on rescheduling her affected tour dates.
Twigs’ visa complications arose after an error led to her paperwork not being submitted in time, resulting in postponed performances earlier this month. She specifically mentioned missing her appearances at the Indio festival and the Ceremonia festival in Mexico City.
To fill Twigs’ slot, the British singer-songwriter Dua Lipa has been announced as a last-minute replacement for the second weekend of Coachella. Rock band Weezer will also perform on the festival’s first weekend in place of Twigs. Both artists join an impressive lineup that includes Bad Bunny, Billie Eilish, and Kendrick Lamar, among others, attracting thousands of music fans each year to the festival.
“It pains me to say this because I am so excited to bring you a creation that I have poured my soul into and believe is amongst my strongest work,” Twigs added in her statement. She acknowledged the impact of her cancellation on fans who made plans and purchased tickets for her performances.
Twigs, who recently concluded the UK and Europe leg of her tour in London, intended to perform at venues like the Knockdown Centre in New York and the Bill Graham Civic Centre in San Francisco in April. Her announcement follows her third studio album, Eusexua, released in January, which peaked at No. 3 on the UK albums chart.
The singer is also scheduled to perform at the Primavera Sound festival in Spain and Salt Shed in Chicago this June, despite previously rescheduling two tour dates in Prague and Berlin due to shipping issues.
FKA Twigs is not the only artist to pull out of Coachella this year. Brazilian singer Anitta, 31, also announced her withdrawal last month, citing “unexpected” personal reasons. She expressed her gratitude for the festival’s understanding and support while sharing her hopes to perform in the future.
As fans eagerly await the festival, many are left wondering who will rise to the occasion in the wake of these cancellations. “Who are you most excited to watch perform at Coachella?” one fan asked on social media.
For ticket holders affected by Twigs’ cancellation, she advised checking their points of purchase for refund information and related updates. “Back to you all with more updates as soon as I have them,” she concluded.
