Ford Recalls 750,000 Vehicles for Safety Issues

DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford is recalling nearly 750,000 vehicles due to safety concerns involving rearview camera displays, steering control, and seatbelt failures, as announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The recalls, detailed in notices issued between September and October 2025, affect a range of models, including Super Duty trucks and Mustangs. The largest recall involves over 290,000 Super Duty trucks from 2020 to 2022, specifically the F-250 SD, F-350 SD, and F-450 SD models. The 360-degree rearview camera system in these vehicles may fail to display images correctly in certain lighting, increasing the risk of accidents.

Ford plans to update the image processing software at no charge to owners, according to the recall notice dated October 10. This recall is identified as number 25SA8, with the NHTSA number 25V-686. This is Ford’s third rearview camera recall this year, following earlier recalls for issues affecting 1.1 million Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

Additionally, 115,539 Super Duty trucks from model years 2020 and 2021 are recalled due to potential steering control loss. The upper shaft of the steering column may detach, driving up the likelihood of losing control of the vehicle. Notification letters were sent to owners on October 6, 2025, and repairs will be handled free of charge. This recall is listed as 25S94 (NHTSA number 25V-626).

Another recall affects 332,778 Mustang vehicles from 2015 to 2017, addressing a critical seatbelt defect. Corroded seatbelt cables may break, preventing proper restraint in a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the cables at no cost. Owners are expected to receive notifications in October, with remedy letters anticipated by January 2026. This recall is identified as 25S92 (NHTSA number 25V-614).
