Former Glamour Model Katie Price Declared Bankrupt for Second Time Over Unpaid Taxes
Former glamour model Katie Price has faced bankruptcy for the second time due to an outstanding tax bill exceeding £750,000. The London court ruling revealed that Price owes a substantial sum of £761,994.05 to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), following her previous bankruptcy in 2019.
During a concise session at London’s Rolls Building, the Insolvency and Companies Court, led by Judge Sebastian Prentis, disclosed that Price had been unresponsive to HMRC regarding the substantial debt, prompting the declaration of bankruptcy. The tax bill primarily stems from self-assessments in the years 2020-21 and 2021-22, encompassing income tax, VAT, surcharges, and interest.
Despite the court’s verdict, Price was notably absent from the hearing, which coincided with her recent fine of £880 for driving without a license or insurance in Northamptonshire during August last year. Earlier this year, another legal judgment ruled that she must allocate 40% of her earnings from the adult content platform OnlyFans to trustees for the next three years, relating to separate unpaid debts.
In a candid discussion with TV personality Michelle Visage on a podcast, Price expressed her frustration with the legal entanglements, indicating a willingness to face imprisonment to resolve her financial woes. She has previously discussed her bankruptcy on national television programs, highlighting personal struggles with mental health in recent years.
Price’s courtroom encounters have been recurrent, with a notable apology during a hearing in October 2020 where she admitted to difficulties in grasping the legal proceedings due to her mental state. Despite the ongoing challenges, she has maintained a steadfast resolve, as the public awaits further updates on her financial predicament.
